Last Ride Ron Wakeling

Last Ride:  Ron Wakeling

Our Ron was a member who always brought a smile with his presence. Ron would enter a room and we all knew that we had a good force amongst us. Ron was a lifelong dairy farmer in the London area who worked hard daily and contributed to his community where ever he could serve.

In 2010 Ron was given a doctor’s diagnosis of prostate cancer that unfortunately had progressed beyond the prostate. This diagnosis ends dreams for a lot of men. Not Ron. He viewed his time remaining as an opportunity to indulge in travel and motorcycling with our London Section. Ron’s Goldwing trike soon became a fixture at our monthly meetings and if a volunteer was required Ron was there. He was handy on the grill, supported club initiatives like our rally and White Oaks Mall display and the London bike show with enthusiasm.

The “Ride for Dad” dedicated to prostate cancer research was promoted by Ron and his cause was supported by our members with Kevin “The vintage guy” coordinating our section’s involvement. Ron could be counted on to raising large commitments of cash annually to support this effort. Our London ride in 2013 Ron’s dedication was recognized by the ride committee designating Ron as “Honourary Ride Captain”

Ron’s journey in this life ended November 15, 2013. As a friend, as a volunteer, as a committed family man and a valued member of our section and other community involvements he will be remembered.

               Thank you Ron

               Brian
