The Raptor
Honda introduced the CB400 F in 1974. A young Honda engineer, Kaz Yoshima was working in California at that time. He decided to engineer a high performance version of this model, a “sleeper” in the classic sense. Meaning, a machine that looks stock or ordinary but is highly modified.
The Yoshima CB 400 F proved to be very effective in humiliating much larger bikes in both acceleration and handling. This Honda was named "The Yellow Peril" and the little 400 became a legend on the streets and race tracks in southern California.
My build, "The Raptor" pays homage to Yoshima. It's a 1973 CB 350 F frame with a CB400F engine. Highly modified and like a Raptor, it is small, stealthy, very quick and decisive in dealing with its victim
The engine is now pushing 500 cc with bored castings and oversize sleeves, straight bored intakes utilize 26 mm CR carbs as well as oversize kipplewhite valves, springs and retainers, webcam 63 B with Dyna ignition, Carillo rods, lightened crank, upgraded oil pump, heavy duty clutch pack, cam chain and Yoshima Exhaust finshes the motor. Power increases from 32 to 65 HP.
The chassis sports a reinforced frame, super wide Borrani Aluminum Rims, CB 750 F forks with race tech internals, Sport Classic calipers, GSXR Master and FZ 600 Rotors.
Instruments are motogaget with custom wiring to complete electrics. Total machine wet weight about 325 lbs
